Finding My Footwork: From Singer to Dancer – A 3-Day Musical Theatre Adventure
Hey everyone, I’m back with a story you probably wouldn’t expect from a self-proclaimed singer – I spent the past three days dancing! And boy, what a ride it was!
Now, I’m no professional dancer (yet!), but when the fabulous Performing Artists Company (PAC) announced their musical theatre dance workshop, I couldn’t resist leaping at the chance. Sure, I might have been surrounded by seasoned dancers, my tap shoes occasionally tapping to a different rhythm, but let me tell you, this experience was pure magic.
It wasn’t just about learning fancy footwork. It was about breaking out of my comfort zone, pushing past my “just-a-singer” mindset, and diving headfirst into the exhilarating world of musical theatre movement. Every day was a whirlwind of pirouettes, leaps, and laughter, all guided by phenomenal instructors with Broadway-sized talents.
But the most beautiful part? The community. We were all on this journey together, a motley crew of singers, dancers, and dreamers, united by a love for performance and a willingness to experiment. We encouraged each other’s wobbly pirouettes, celebrated every new step, and shared stories along the way. It was like finding a whole new family, all fueled by the rhythm of the music and the joy of creative expression.
So, did I become a pro dancer overnight? Well, let’s just say I’m now more comfortable saying “yes” to a two-step than a high note. But more importantly, I discovered a whole new dimension of my artistry. I unlocked hidden confidence, explored emotions through movement, and realised that singing ain’t the only way to tell a story.
This PAC workshop wasn’t just about dance; it was about growth, connection, and pushing my artistic boundaries. It left me breathless, inspired, and eager for more. So, to my fellow singers, actors, and anyone who’s ever dreamt of pirouetting into the spotlight, I say this: take the leap! You might surprise yourself with what you find on the other side.
And who knows, maybe one day we’ll share the stage, belting out a tune while rocking some killer choreography. Now wouldn’t that be a showstopper?
Until next time, keep stepping to your own beat!
Hey people!!!!!
Good mood and good luck to everyone!!!!!
